Grand hopes for Australia's Table Tennis team

Gerflor regrets that it will not be supporting any medal hopes for the Australian Men’s Volleyball Team in Beijing. In a disappointing finish to the qualifying rounds earlier this month, the Australian team went down to Iran 3-0, dashing any hopes they held to qualify for a spot in the Olympic competition in Beijing. Coach Russell Borgeaud paid tribute to Iran and said that despite rallying in the third set, the Australian team’s performance was a disappointing end to the qualification process.

The team paid tribute to the Australian Institute of Sport, Australian Sports Commission and Australian Volleyball Federation without whose support they could not compete with the best in the world. Gerflor is proud to support the team with Olympic standard playing surfaces it has installed at the AIS in Canberra.

Gerflor has also installed 14 volleyball courts in the special Beijing event colors at venues across seven sites in the Chinese Capital. Meanwhile, a further 56 courts or 5,300 square metres of Sports Flooring, have been produced to support table tennis competitors, including the six person Australian team that is looking to cause an upset in Beijing to bring home Australia’s first medal in the sport.  The three women in the team, Miao Miao, Jian Fang Kay and Stephanie Sang were all born in China. David Zalcberg, Kyle Davis and William Henzell complete the team. Go Aussies!
