Gerflor Supports Australia's fastest growing sport.

Gerflor has thrown the full weight of its technical support behind Australia’s fastest growing sport, Futsal.  Two fresh blue Gerflor courts are now in use at Australia’s first purpose built Futsal stadium in Brunswick, Victoria. The facility forms part of the Futsal Oz campaign to continue to grow the sport in Australia where it began just over 20 years ago when students at the old Brunswick High School played indoor futbol for fun and recreation.

 
Chief Executive Officer of Futsal Oz, Peter Parthimos said the league was committed to growing indoor futbol in Australia and taking the sport to new heights.

“We believe Futsal can be enjoyed by everybody, from a 40 year old beginner to a three year old up and coming superstar,” Peter said.

“One of the keys in achieving our aim was to provide our players and supporters with the ultimate facilities. Futsal Oz always provided well run leagues and Junior Oz clinics, but after years of playing on polished floorboards, I decided to give the old floor boards a rest.

“After extensive research I finally decided to go with the impressive looking Gerflor, Taraflex Futsal wood & blue Flooring. It is visually spectacular and a touch of class. The feedback has been overwhelming,” Peter said.

“Not only does the floor have what I call true grip underfoot, providing easy player maneuvering and a good bounce for the ball. Above all, the most positive thing is we have cut down on player injuries, justifying our investment and making it an obvious success,” he added.

Managing Director of Gerflor Australasia, Chris Low, said he was pleased and proud to be involved with the growth and development of another sporting code in Australia.

“Indoor sports surfaces are Gerflor’s specialty and it’s fantastic to be adding Futsal Oz and this beautiful new stadium to our other partnerships with federations governing such indoor sports as table tennis, volleyball and badminton. We are also installing increasing numbers of high performance surfaces in school facilities where teachers and parents understand their duty of care and want to ensure our young people are appropriately supported in their sporting endeavours,” Mr. Low said.

“We have all enjoyed seeing our surfaces at work supporting the world’s most elite athletes in Beijing. If the popularity of Futsal continues to grow at the rate we are seeing here in Australia, who knows, perhaps one day we will be witnessing futbol at an Olympic level too,” he said.
